F is for Family

I’ve been participating in an Instagram challenge this month called #bookparty18. Each day there is a different prompt to post that is book related. Today’s prompt was a book with an awesome mom character. I posted a picture of A Year on Ladybug Farm by Donna Ball.

What I like about this book is the way the characters view family. First there is the family we are born with. And then there is the family you choose. I am lucky to have both.

I’ve viewed family like this for a long time. Growing up in a small town, our neighbors kept an eye on us kids, disciplined us like we were their own, and fed whoever was sitting at their table.

I also have sisters of the heart, I told you a little about one of them yesterday. We can be apart for long periods of time and can pick up a conversations like we saw each other yesterday. We truly care about each other and what is happening in each others lives. If there is one thing that can be said positive about social media is that I can keep in touch with my sisters even thought they are hundreds of miles away.
