Horse Shows, Covid, and Heat oh my!

I’ve been lackadaisical lately about posting across all my social media platforms.  I try to keep an eye on what’s happening in the world, but the truth is there is so much negativity that I would much rather focus on the positive things – horses, writing, friends, and family.

As for Diva, she has healed from her hoof abscess and we celebrated her 9th birthday. Liz is working with her several days a week and is focused on the upcoming Fuzzy Wuzzy Open Schooling Show hosted by the Motherlode Arabian Horse Association.

We thankfully had our first horse show earlier this month. The Arabian Horse of Northern California (AHANC) and Pacific Slope Championship in Rancho Murieta, CA. Liz, on a borrowed horse, Bella, did well in her classes and she placed 4th in her Pacific Slope Championship class. After months of hard work (and canceled shows) it was nice to get out and watch her show. Even with masks and Social distancing and despite the heat, we survived.

Both Steve and I have been working from home – which is good and bad. At least I don’t have to worry about being late for work. I only worry whether we have ice in the ice maker for my iced latte in the morning!

J-San is finishing illustrating another Mountain Girl Book. It is currently untitled but we will see. I’ve still got some work to do on the story. When we are done with that one, I think I will finally write a book about the Cowgirl and her friends at a horse show. And depending on how it goes, I’ve had requests for a horse story chapter book (someday I will get back to my novel) and I’ve been playing around with some ideas.

On September 1, I will be releasing Cowgirl and the Ghost Horse. Just in time for Halloween! It’s a super cute story, I can’t wait to share it with you.
