K is for Kindred Spirits
“Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think. It’s splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world.”

Ok I admit it. I’m an Anne of Green Gables nerd. It is one of my favorite book series and I absolutely love the Kevin Sullivan production with Megan Follows. While not perfect, it gives me all the warm fuzzies I need.
Being a writer has led me to other kindred spirits. I am so thankful to have found such like minded souls on this writing journey. People who have navigated the ups and downs and the ins and outs of this crazy publishing world who are willing to stop and lend a hand to a newbie. That’s part of the reason, I am willing to share everything I’ve learned – in a sense a pay it forward concept.
I started writing a series of blog posts called “I’ve written a children’s book, now what?” which I intend to pick up after I finish the A to Z Blog Challenge. It is mainly my perspective of navigating the waters of indie publishing. I don’t claim to have all the answers but I hope that what I am writing helps at least one person on their journey. Plus, I’m learning new tips and techniques all the time.
I was recently connected with Vikki J. Carter who is producing a new podcast called Authors of the Pacific Northwest. Her first few podcasts have been released and let me tell you, I am just wowed by the information I have learned from the authors she has interviewed. Their journeys are fascinating to me as newbie author.
I am also thankful for the kindred writing spirits I have met just reaching out and connecting via social media. Brittney Joy who writes wonderful YA Horse books, Carly Kade who writes contemporary romance with an equestrian theme, and Lindsey Dempsey who wrote a childrens book about a special dog and her girl and playing pretend, and so many more.
The world really is full of Kindred Spirits.
